The man behind the throne, a kingmaker in Swedish poker?

"This is Sweden, man"
Even though he claims he is no longer active, most people agree that he is still very influential in Swedish poker. The biggest poker news site in Sweden, Pokerspel.org, has put him on their most influential list several times the last year and he is a well known name in politics in general – said to make or break candidates in SFS (national student association).
The center for Axelsson’s activities for poker players is his own blog, Fritt Spel, a site that promotes Free Games, not only as in play for free but as in free to play. Still he claims he does not partake in the behind the scenes activities at all anymore:
Where did you get that kind of information? I left poker behind a long time ago, says Axelsson when we reach him on the phone, I don’t even do politics anymore.
Even so, the Swedish government has started to talking about legal poker rooms and not to long ago they announced a parliament discussion group opening talks about going the same way as Denmark – legal online poker.
No matter how it turns out, there is no doubt we’ll be keeping an eye on Mr Axelsson in the future.
